What to Bring
Weather & Clothing Tips
Katmai’s weather can change fast. Summer days usually range from 50 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit, but nights can get down to the low 40s. Expect wind and rain often, with clear skies only about 20% of the time. Because of this, it’s best to dress in layers so you can add or remove clothes as needed. Bring comfortable, medium-weight clothes for the casual lodge setting. Don’t forget warm hats, gloves, and wool or synthetic socks to stay cozy.
Sample Packing List
We ask you to limit your total weight of baggage in and out of the lodge to less than 50 pounds per person. Soft-sided duffel-style bags are recommended, for easy packing inside Alaska’s classic “bush planes.”
