Single Traveler Policy
At Katmai Wilderness Lodge, all room rates and packages are based on double occupancy. We welcome solo travelers; however, due to our double occupancy standard, a 1.5x single occupancy surcharge will be applied to bookings made by individual guests. This fee ensures we can continue to offer the same high standard of service and hospitality to all guests. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to welcoming you.
Participant Physical Requirements Policy
We are committed to providing outdoor experiences that are inclusive and respectful of all individuals. To ensure the safety of all participants and staff, certain activities require a minimum level of physical ability.
Essential Eligibility Requirements
Participation in our guided activities may include hiking, paddling, or other outdoor movement over varying terrain and conditions. To safely participate, guests must be able to:
- Follow verbal or visual instructions independently or with the assistance of a companion
- Move easily over uneven terrain or through water (depending on the activity), with or without adaptive equipment
- Manage personal care or bring a companion to assist
- Withstand variable outdoor conditions, including sun, wind, rain, or cold
If you use assistive devices or require specific accommodations, please let us know when registering. We will do our best to make reasonable modifications unless they fundamentally alter the nature of the activity or pose a safety risk.
Self-Assessment: Activity Level
To help us match you with the right experience, please select the activity level that best describes your current comfort and ability level. These levels are self-reported and are intended to help you choose the trip that’s right for you:
- Level 1 – Leisure: Able to walk short distances on mostly flat, stable terrain. Activities may include shorter hikes and boat based touring
- Level 2 – Moderate: Comfortable with moderate activity including walking 2–4 miles over uneven terrain, gentle elevation gain, and standing for periods of time.
- Level 3 – Active: Ready for sustained physical activity such as hiking 5+ miles with elevation changes and paddling. You are confident in your endurance and mobility for the duration of the activity. If you’re unsure which level fits, we’re happy to help guide you through the decision. Your safety and enjoyment are our priorities.
