Dear Friends, Agents, and Valued Clients,

It is with mixed emotions that we announce the temporary closure of Katmai Wilderness Lodge for the 2025 and 2026 seasons to undertake essential renovations and upgrades.

Katmai Wilderness Lodge stands on land that has been home to Native Alaskan Peoples for nearly 6,000 years. Our deep commitment to preserving this rich heritage has guided our decision to implement a complete systems rebuild—one that carefully protects the historical significance of the grounds surrounding us. While this extensive process will require a minimum of several (warm) months, we believe this thoughtful approach is essential to honor the land’s history.

Our renovation plans include installing an environmentally sustainable waste management system that will exceed the efficiency of our current infrastructure. We’re also enhancing the Lodge’s amenities while carefully preserving the rustic, welcoming atmosphere that has always made Katmai Wilderness Lodge special. These improvements will ensure we continue providing comfortable accommodations while better protecting our cherished environment.

We understand this news may disappoint those planning to visit during the 2025 and 2026 seasons. While we cannot accept bookings for these years, we will soon begin taking reservations for 2027, when we look forward to welcoming you to the enhanced Katmai Wilderness Lodge. Please stay connected with us as we share updates on our exciting transformation over the coming months.

Warmest regards,

Nancy Beaumont
